A new smartphone leakster going by @the_maligant has published two seemingly official renders of the upcoming HTC Desire 628, expected to be an affordable mid-range Android smartphone. Well, we cannot really be sure as the Taiwanese manufacturer has a knack of pricing its smartphones higher than they should ideally be priced at.
The Desire 628 will reportedly feature a 5” display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution, which is pretty much standard fare on most lower mid-range Android smartphones these days. It will be powered by the MediaTek MT6753 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.3GHz, paired with 3GB of RAM. While 3GB of RAM wasn’t too common on mid-range devices last year, it is fairly common now and quite a few entry-level smartphones too are coming out with 3GB of RAM. Internal storage is reportedly 32GB, which is definitely pretty impressive. A microSD card slot will be included, so you will be able to expand the storage further by up to 128GB.
At the back, the smartphone is going to feature a 13MP primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens with a BSI sensor. For selfies, you are going to get a 5MP unit, like a number of other mid-range smartphones out there.
As you can tell from the two leaked renders, the Desire 628 will feature a polycarbonate build with HTC BoomSound stereo speakers on the top and bottom bezel. Two color options are see in the renders, although it is highly possible that HTC will offer the smartphone in other color options as well. Connectivity features haven’t been detailed, except that the device will support dual SIM cards. That said, you can expect it to offer all the modern connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.
The leakster hasn’t revealed when the Desire 628 will be made official, but we think it shouldn’t take long for the mid-ranger to be officially unveiled.
